Final Favorite ~ Chorus #1

Favorite Chorus: In Christ Alone
Words and Music: Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!! :D
It starts with our dependance upon Christ, moves into what He did for us at the cross, goes on to His resurrection, and finally his glorious coming again! I guess the song kind of speaks for itself! :) Just enjoy the words and if you don't know the tune you should hear it! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mPrqltkJyw
(This version has a bit more drums than the one we own of them singing it. I couldn't find a milder version. Sorry if you don't like that stuff.)

  1. These are all great songs! They've made me wonder, though, what's the official difference between a "hymn" and a "chorus?" I mean, this song doesn't even have a repeated chorus.

    Anyway, here's a softer version, for anyone interested.

    I have no problems with drums [understatement :) ], and I'm not a big fan of Owl City, but I kind of prefer his cover in this case. It feels more personal and heartfelt to me.

  2. Ya know I don't really know the difference. Mr. Cavnar just said once that if it had a chorus it wasn't a hymn....
    I meant I couldn't find a softer version of the Gettys singing it. (Since they wrote it. :) Lol...that is kind of an understatement. :P

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
