Favorite Hymn #2

Favorite Hymn #2 = How Great Thou Art
Words and Music: Stuart Hine

Okay, so this one's not a real hymn 'cause it has a chorus. It's in the hymnal though! :)

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the might thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

CHORUS
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When thro' the woods and forest glads I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on that cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joys shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim: my God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

This one has amazing words as well as beautiful melody and harmony. The first two verses are speaking of our awe of God's creation. The third is talking of God's plan of salvation and the fourth of His glorious coming again! The chorus is our soul literally singing our praises to God. Gives me shivers every time I sing it or hear it sung!

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
