Here is the following email delivered to the inbox of pre-registered Homeschool Conference attenders.
Dear Friends,
As many of
you may have heard, Doug Phillips' father, the Honorable Howard J.
Phillips, went to be with the Lord this past Saturday, April 20th. Our
hearts go out to the Phillips family during this time of grieving, and
we would invite you to join us in prayer on their behalf.
Very likely
you are asking yourself the same question I asked myself after I heard
the news, "So what does this mean for the conference this weekend?" In
God's providence, Doug Phillips will not be able to join us due to family responsibilities.
However, God, in the same good providence, has blessed us with a replacement: Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr. has graciously agreed, on very short notice, to speak in Doug's stead. While
this is undoubtedly a surprise to all of us, we are confident that the
Lord will use Voddie's messages to work mightily in our lives this
weekend.
PLEASE pass this email on to anyone who you believe would be challenged and inspired by Dr. Baucham's preaching. We have included an overview of conference highlights below for anyone who has not already made arrangements to attend (registration is open at the door).
We thank you for your understanding, and greatly anticipate our time together this weekend!

This is so shocking, and sad. My prayers, and thoughts are with the Phillip's family at this time of loss.
